Spillage

Course Overview

Our Spillage Course is designed to equip employees with the essential knowledge, awareness, and practical skills required to respond effectively to workplace spills and contamination incidents. The Spillage Course focuses on protecting people, property, equipment, and the environment by ensuring that spills are identified, contained, controlled, cleaned up, and reported safely and efficiently. Through a combination of theoretical learning, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, participants gain the confidence needed to respond appropriately to spill emergencies while minimising potential health, safety, environmental, and operational risks.
The Spillage Course provides learners with a clear understanding of different types of workplace spills, including hazardous and non-hazardous substances, chemicals, fuels, oils, and other potentially harmful materials. Participants will learn how spills can affect employees, the environment, equipment, buildings, and workplace operations. The Spillage Course teaches learners how to identify spill hazards, assess the level of risk involved, select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), isolate affected areas, and implement effective spill response procedures in accordance with workplace requirements and applicable safety standards.
A strong emphasis is placed on spill containment techniques, the correct use of spill kits, emergency response procedures, and environmental protection measures. Learners will develop the ability to identify the source of a spill, prevent further contamination, contain the affected area, and safely clean up and dispose of contaminated materials. Practical exercises within the Spillage Course provide hands-on experience using spill response equipment, selecting suitable absorbent materials, controlling the spread of substances, and applying effective containment methods in simulated workplace scenarios.
The training also covers incident reporting, documentation requirements, emergency communication, waste handling, and post-incident evaluations to ensure compliance with organisational procedures and legal responsibilities. The Spillage Course is ideal for businesses that store, handle, transport, or work with hazardous substances, chemicals, fuels, oils, and other potentially harmful materials. Properly trained employees can assist organisations in reducing environmental impact, preventing injuries, minimising operational disruptions, controlling contamination, and supporting compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements.
By completing the Spillage Course, participants develop practical spill response skills that can be applied during workplace emergencies and routine spill incidents. Learners understand how to respond safely, protect themselves and others, use spill equipment correctly, control contamination, and report incidents effectively. The Spillage Course helps organisations improve emergency preparedness, strengthen workplace safety, reduce environmental risks, and ensure employees are better prepared to respond quickly and responsibly when a spillage occurs.
