Fire Equipment Inspector Course

Course Overview

Our Fire Equipment Inspector Course is designed to equip employees with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to conduct routine inspections of workplace fire protection equipment. The Fire Equipment Inspector Course focuses on ensuring that fire safety equipment remains accessible, visible, serviceable, clearly identified, and ready for use during emergency situations. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical inspection exercises, learners gain the confidence needed to identify defects, recognise non-compliance issues, and report findings accurately. Participants also develop an understanding of how regular fire equipment inspections contribute to effective workplace fire prevention and emergency preparedness.
The Fire Equipment Inspector Course provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the various types of fire protection equipment commonly found within workplace environments, including portable fire extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, fire alarm systems, emergency signage, and emergency lighting. Participants will learn the purpose and function of each system, inspection requirements, common defects, and the importance of maintaining equipment in accordance with workplace safety standards and legal requirements. The training helps learners understand the difference between routine inspection activities and specialised maintenance or servicing that must be performed by appropriately qualified personnel.
A strong emphasis is placed on conducting systematic inspections using approved checklists and reporting procedures. Learners will develop the ability to identify damaged, missing, obstructed, expired, incorrectly positioned, inaccessible, or non-compliant fire safety equipment and understand when defects should be escalated to qualified maintenance or service providers. The Fire Equipment Inspector Course also covers record keeping, inspection documentation, legal responsibilities, corrective actions, and the role of fire equipment inspections in supporting workplace emergency preparedness. Learners are encouraged to conduct inspections methodically and ensure that identified deficiencies are properly documented and communicated.
This Fire Equipment Inspector Course is ideal for businesses that are required to maintain fire protection equipment as part of occupational health and safety compliance requirements. Properly trained inspectors contribute to safer workplaces by helping organisations identify fire safety risks before emergencies occur, supporting legal compliance, reducing liability, and improving overall fire preparedness. Regular inspections can help ensure that fire equipment remains available and suitable for use when required. The training is suitable for Safety Representatives, Fire Marshals, SHE Officers, Supervisors, Facilities Personnel, Maintenance Staff, Security Personnel, Health and Safety Committee Members, and any employees responsible for conducting workplace fire safety inspections.
