Health and Safety Representative Course
Course Overview
Our Health and Safety Representative Course is designed to equip employees with the essential knowledge, awareness, and practical skills required to effectively perform the duties of a Health and Safety Representative in the workplace. The Health and Safety Representative Course focuses on promoting a safe and healthy working environment while supporting compliance with occupational health and safety legislation. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical exercises, participants gain the confidence needed to identify hazards, assess risks, participate in workplace inspections, and contribute to improving overall workplace safety. The training helps learners understand their responsibilities and the importance of actively participating in workplace health and safety activities.
The Health and Safety Representative Course provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the responsibilities of employers and employees, and the important role Health and Safety Representatives play in supporting workplace safety programmes. Participants will learn how to identify workplace hazards, conduct basic risk assessments, investigate incidents, monitor workplace conditions, and recommend corrective actions to reduce the likelihood of injuries, illnesses, and accidents. The Health and Safety Representative Course also helps learners understand how effective communication and cooperation between employees and management can contribute to improved occupational health and safety.
A strong emphasis is placed on hazard identification, risk management, workplace inspections, incident reporting, and effective communication between employees and management. Learners will develop the skills required to identify unsafe acts and conditions, participate in health and safety committee activities, and assist in ensuring that workplace safety procedures are implemented and maintained. Practical exercises and workplace-based scenarios allow participants to apply their knowledge in realistic situations and gain valuable hands-on experience. The Health and Safety Representative Course encourages learners to actively participate in identifying hazards, reporting concerns, and recommending practical improvements to workplace safety.
This Health and Safety Representative Course is ideal for businesses that are required to appoint Health and Safety Representatives in terms of occupational health and safety legislation. Properly trained representatives contribute to creating safer workplaces, reducing incidents, improving compliance, and supporting a positive safety culture. The training is suitable for Health and Safety Representatives, supervisors, team leaders, managers, SHE officers, committee members, shop stewards, and employees involved in workplace health and safety activities. By completing the Health and Safety Representative Course, participants gain the practical knowledge required to support workplace inspections, identify hazards, communicate safety concerns, and assist management and employees with maintaining effective health and safety practices.
The Health and Safety Representative Course also promotes a proactive approach to workplace safety by helping representatives understand how prevention, consultation, reporting, and continuous improvement can reduce workplace risks. Learners are encouraged to contribute meaningfully to workplace health and safety committees and assist in creating an environment where employees feel comfortable reporting hazards and unsafe conditions.
